Dave had moved down to work in Maryland. The boys and I were still in New York to let D.J. finish Kindergarten. That weekend he was done, we headed down to our first stop as a 5th wheel family!
We found a campground in Callaway, MD called Take It Easy Campground. Unfortunately it was an hour away from Dave’s work so this was our first lesson to find campgrounds closer to his work. It was summer which meant it was H-O-T! The boys and I spent most days at the pool.
We bought fishing poles for the first time to take boys fishing in the pond. We did that most nights as boys had a lot of fun and actually were catching fish!
The days that were cooler, we practiced soccer at the field and played on the small playground.
We celebrated Father’s day and 4th of July there.
Boys and I got to do some fun summer activities like free movies at the local theater and Lowe’s Build and Grow.
We found a local playground to enjoy!
We went to the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum to learn about the history of naval aviation.
Since we were only 70 miles south of Washington D.C. we wanted to take advantage of being so close to take the boys for the first time. We found the weekend that the Pittsburgh Pirates were in town and decided to book a hotel for a Saturday night. We bought tickets and took the Metro to go cheer on our hometown team. Even though we lost, it was a lot of fun!
The next morning we got up, had breakfast and started walking to go see the sights. We wanted to see the monuments early in the day as it was going to be another HOT day. The boys did great with all the walking but were ready to stop when we finished at the Air and Space Museum.
That was a fun weekend away and a great town to start our 5th wheel living. Next was to Williamsport, PA. You can read that post here. Thanks for reading. Have a blessed day/night!
